Hartford, CT –  This Fall, Greater Hartford will have a special visit from the Jewish Art Salon as they present their newest exhibit, Seduced by the Sacred: Forging a Jewish Art, co-curated by Richard McBee and Joel Silverstein.  This two month-long art exhibit features artists who have been moved by the idea of the Sacred in their work, including concepts of Divinity and or the Sublime.  It is the love and the sense of the forbidden that comprise the unique faith of the Jewish artist.

Come see this provocative work by this international arts group starting Sunday, October 3rd. The exhibit is proudly presented by Charter Oak Cultural Center in partnership with the Mandell Jewish Community Center, with artwork being shown at each venue.  This event is FREE and open to everyone. 

Jewish Art Salon is an open inter-disciplinary group of approx. 150 artists, curators, art historians and museum directors.   “We have created bridges between people who normally would have no interaction with each other. We are promoting understanding within the greater Jewish community. We talk about Jewish ideas and culture in the broadest sense. Looking through the lens of our own unique experience of culture, liturgy and experience, is a springboard for discussing important and provocative issues facing our society-at-large”, says Yona Verwer, President.

Charter Oak Cultural Center, is housed in Connecticut’s oldest synagogue building, is a non-profit, multi-cultural arts center committed to preserving the Jewish Heritage of our building, giving access to the arts to all people and doing the work of social justice. Charter Oak has long been an arts showcase for the region’s ethnically and culturally diverse communities
